Tp-link write 9V or 5V PSU in the whitepaper does this mean it could be possible to power it with 7V also? There must be some sort of DC/DC converter inside? 

I see that up-tone posted a picture of one LPS-1 powering a microRendu and the new ISOregen with 7V so I thougt if it was possible to power a FMC and a microRendu with one LPS-1 set at 7V or will it not be enough amps to do that?

I would rather opt for the SMS-200 bit if I recall it some thougt it sounded better powered with higher voltage like 12V as the DC/DC converter inside worked better with higher voltage. 

Anyone here using the LPS-1 for FMC and SMS-200?

Most DC devices can work within a certain voltage range. If they specify 5 or 9 volts it'll surely work at 7V too and anything else in between. Operating outside the voltage range though could damage the device or the PSU powering it.

Most non-audiophile devices have switching DC-DC converters inside (step-up/down circuitry). In the more audiophile type of devices you'll often find ultra low noise, low dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulators. These convert any excess voltage * the current running through them, to heat. Of course there's also combinations of these devices possible.

The LPS-1 is limited at 1-1.1A so you'll have to find out how much power any device you connect to it actually uses. This isn't very easy to find out. I've seen figures mentioned for the microRendu power usage and I'm sure these'll become clear for the ISO Regen too but this will be more difficult for the TP Link. Usually you'll not find anything beyond what's written at the back of the device e.g. 9V-1A, which more often than not is way more than the devices actually consume.

With the direct connection methodology as discussed in my system topic and on CA (http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f10-mu...ndu-31110/) we're seeing people moving away from the 'optical bridge'. I did too, at least in the direct signal path. Just saying!

Tp-link often state power consumption in their specs (I was looking at this very thing a while back)

For example this one states max power consumption 5.5W. About 25 milliamps in the UK?

Yes I have seen that but I also recall Jussi that makes HQ Player have some thougts about this direct mode connection and prefering a router/switch between computer and NAA but cant remember why. I have plans to use Roon ROCK in the future so this double NIC will not be something I can use.

I see you Antoine as one of the guys to ask about computer playback so I will describe my system and see what you think if it is ok or more my thougts of a new system without AIR and Devialet.....
