I took a pair of Carver Black Magic 20  (to give to my daughter) on a flight from Ottawa to Vancouver in my back pack, tubes as well.
I wrapped them both in towels and I had no problems with security but they did ask me about the tubes.

Dom, I'm quite sure that it won't fit underneath the seat in front of you, boxes and everything. My comments on fitting the 320 and the 777 must be read as having fit the overhead lockers: just put something light like your jacket or something like that on top and that should discourage anyone else bothering your amp. In any case the box is quite strong.
