Devialet partner with Sky!

Per the above, investment from Renault, amongst others.  I also noticed a little while ago that Devialet have been advertising jobs for people with car audio experience.  So what happens next?

Music not to my ears!  Sonos every time, particularly if you want music from your sound base or sound bar as well. They may well have got me interested if they had somehow integrated Sky into the same ugly black box, but having another box for what is essentially sound effects, I just don't buy it. This also assumes that you have your Sky box underneath your TV and many people have them wall mounted without anything underneath. I'm a Sky customer of over 10 years and wouldn't buy one of these regardless of the association with Devialet. And Sky Q is a dogs dinner picture quality wise - they ought to fix that first. I think Devialet have missed the point and are very late to the party. Good luck to them though.

I'll be waiting for the knock at the door Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Sonos sound quality wise and it is part of the problem for the hi-fi industry at large. It's easy to set up has a great app and is good enough for most people (which is the problem) if they simply want to boost the sound of their tellies and play a bit of background music. Most people even today think that hi-fi is Bose and B&O. Ho hum...

Well, yeah. One of my friends has a beautiful house - driveway, pool, huge garden, a 'proper pile' and no shortage of high-end fixtures, fitting and decor, very tasteful designer furniture, and mod cons, big tv etc. Anyway you get the picture.

At lunch, a big Sonos was dragged out across the floor to provide the tunes....

I think it's surprising how many people with the funds and taste, would never dream of buying an expensive hifi.

That's the thing though. There was absolutely no lack of taste - far from it, it was impeccable.

It just didn't extend to hifi. Probably never occurred to them.

Sorry, I wasn't singling your friends out, just generalising.

No, I know. But it's what was most interesting to me.
Good sound just didn't feature, yet everything else did.
I guess if you've not been into hifi ever, you just figure a big Sonos is all you need? and maybe it is! They seemed happy enough.
Anyway, very OT now sorry.
Back to the ugly black box for Sky subscribers.

Sorry, still way off topic but...
I have a couple of  Sonos Play5s in my bedroom configured as a stereo pair, and the sound is very good indeed. If I was skint, I could easily live with these.

Or likely they haven't had the epiphanal moment that we all have had. Again, this is a huge problem for the industry at large. How do you get younger and less educated people who love music to experience it so they can hear what they are missing. When they do they may be the future buyers of hi-fi. I think that all stakeholders (manufacturers, music publishers, artists etc) should club together and fund a national ad campaign.
