anyone in UK using US plug mains?

Hi Just wondering if anyone is using US plug mains cables for your HiFi/AV stuffs? I am not sure if it's okay to change one of the wall socket into US version (any issues with building insurance?)? Or am I better off with UK plug mains cable into a mains block then my US mains, or maybe just change all my cables to UK plugs?

I use US plugs/sockets. I have a 10A fuse & RCD protection for each mains spur off the distribution board, just in case. My friendly electrician gave it all the OK, though I suspect some electricians might not be so compliant as the regs don't seem to be 100% clear.

The easiest & safest option is *not* to modify the house wiring though and use a UK plugged cable into a US mains block.

I use US/NEMA power cords.

However... do not do this without having your electrician sign this off as per regs!

I use 10A RCBO dedicated lines to each duplex socket.

Honestly, why? Is the electricity, not the current, different in the U.K. from the US. My feed is sound, I have no electrical noise. What is all of this about? I mean if it makes you happy then help yourself, but we've had electricitysupplied satisfactorily to all our homes in the U.K. for quite a while now.

Possibly the US-plug versions of the same cables are less expensive, or that there is a greater variety of cables available with that plug style. It could be that the US plug more compact?

Or, most likely, it is that the NA plugs are much better looking... like little faces on the wall socket. That's my guess, for sure.

Anyway the British mains plugs are superior to the US plugs includes the hospital grade type. Larger surfer area and tighter grip

You would have to have a very good reason to go from the worst plug in the world(US) to the best plug in the world (UK). The Australian plug here is marginally better than the US one and I would take the UK plug over the Aussie plug any time.
