Steve Huff Photo review of Dev200
#1
Just recently found this review on the Devialet 200. Quite nice but debate the reviewer on the implementation of AIR, which, as we all know, can be fraught with problems (for some, I might add).
Devialet Expert 220 Pro Kinki EX-M7 power amp tethered to a fiber-fed Lumin X1 streamer via Grimm XLRs, Vivid B1 Decade speakers in Rosso Barchetta red (only 200 produced in a limited edition), Roon Nucleus with a Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SSD, etherREGEN switch fed by a Sonore opticalModule (and Sonore-supplied transceivers and 1M optical cable) with a SOtM dCBL-Cat7 cable to my Nucleus and a DH Labs Reunion Cat8 to my Lumin T2 streamer, Keces P8 linear power supply feeding a (to come) NUC and EtherREGEN switch with an external AfterDark OCXO clock., and opticalModule (5V/1A), AudioQuest Niagara 1000 power conditioner, ASI LiveLine loom (purchased directly from Franck Tchang when I lived in France), Less Loss Firewall for Speakers and Roon lifetime license with Tidal streaming.

Quote:The Devialet runs in Class A until a certain volume is reached, then it kicks in to class D.

What is the correct statement he should have used?
D400; Stereolab Tombo Tron coaxial for master -> slave; Kubala-Sosna Elation interconnects, power, and speaker cables; Spendor D7 speakers; Bryston BDP-2 w. latest sound card & upgraded fuses; Bybee Stealth Power Purifier conditioner connected with IsoTek EVO3 Syncro SE to wall socket

It is a hybrid Class A / Class D operation throughout. Both amps work together in parallel. The class A drives output voltage and control the sonic signature while the Class D amp drive the output current needed for high power.

Hence the name ADH technology as Devialet coins it.
