Once again thanks for all the replies on here.
I will probably keep the panels as they have reduced the brightness quite considerably, and that was their aim.
I appreciate that there could be more gains made from more accurate measurements, but this is just not for me. I admire you guys who take so much time to get your system correct, but once I am happy I stop tinkering.
I am hoping I can get used to them in my living room as they are rather imposing, if I was still married i would not have a hope in hell of keeping these on the wall.
In my case I also wont be experimenting as this is also my living space and I have to get the balance right between the enjoyment of my music and my living room not looking like a hifi demo listening room
I did look at the possibilities of EQ, but I have just made the decision to purchase the Melco to take the lap top out of the music playback chain, so I was not prepared to then go back on that.
These panels really change the sound of my room, its for the better I think, but I am not 100% convinced about them staying yet. They probably will as i admit to being a little fed up with all the experimenting of trying to get rid of the brightness. It has done that for sure. The downside is my music definitely lacks a bit of life I think although after two days I admit to not noticing this as much.I can live with it as it is so thats a plus for me.
Long term I always had the PMC 26s in mind and I may go down this route eventually. The more I read and researched and took advice on here the more I realised I had to tame my room or I could be constantly battling with this. My room may not be correctly tuned as I would need measurements and additional software for that and I am just not prepared to go down that route, but for now the brightness has been tamed quite substantially..........if i keep them that is
