Melco users - what app?
#1
Hi. Recently purchased the N1A and keen to hear what app people use to control the Melco.

I do not have an android device, but may have to purchase one if I do not find a good enough app on IOS. Trouble is I keep hearing a Melco app is imminent, so would prefer not to buy another device, also the ipad has the devialet remote and keen to just use one tablet

Kinsky and Lumin apps work, but the feature I need most does not work. I tend to listen to a full album at a time, so I add this album to a playlist and always use shuffle play. Just stops me knowing what track comes next. It may seem a little odd but this is how I have listened to music since CD players come out.
Both of the apps above the shuffle/random play does not work for some reason. I dont need a fancy app that incorporates streaming services and radio etc, although radio would be nice. The main feature I want is to be able to add an album or songs to a playlist and shuffle play them.

Any advice once again appreciated

Still to bad you cant use Bubble this feature works fine in their app, I just add a album (or many) to the playlist and then chose shuffle in the whats playing window on Bubble and voila I have no clue whats next in line Smile

I agree but I have a feeling a Melco app is close so would not want to spend cash for say the sake of a few weeks. Also already have an I phone and I pad , do not want another tablet as it would never get used for anything else

Lightning DS and Plug Player are two other apps that should work.
I had a quick play with Kinsky today to see what the problem is with shuffle play - yes, it doesn't seem to work quite right - seems to play first track randomly then in sequence from then on.

Hi guys, thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately the Lightning ds app stopped working with the Melco after the last Auralic update.
The Cyrus one I have jus tried and just did not pick up the Melco.
Plug player I tried last night but no album artwork or shuffle play.
Using the Lumin app at present but it's buggy and again won't shuffle play.

On the plus side the Melco is sounding better and better all the time. Oh if only the app experience matched this :-)

I now take a "seeing is believing" approach with Melco/Buffalo and their distributor. I requested a US powercord as received European power cords and was asked for my shipping address to receive US power cord. It's been a long wait with no power cord forthcoming. My Melco N1A is in storage and will install back in the system if/when Melco app becomes available. I've used Lumin app and tried most other apps, all which were OK to just mediocre. The Japanese-built Melco N1A is a good digital audio component hampered by unreliable customer service/information/follow through.

Bob you make a valid point. The lack of a decent app is a real shame and did not expect this. Back to using Kinsky now. It's basic but I can see it clearly ard it doesn't crash

The Melco does sound great though, and so far in my dealings with them their customer service has been exemplary. Shame you are not finding the same

The Melco app really can't come quick enough though
