Moving from 220pro to 440pro (dual mono)
#1
Hi folks,
I currently have a 220pro and have the opportunity to audition another 220pro daisy chained to my existing 220pro (essentially 440 pro dual mono config I guess?).
What are some things I should be aware of to get this right?
I suppose both should be on same firmware.
figured out most things in the configurator ... overall question is how do both 220pros connect to one another? through coax on the digital 1 port?

Are there any other gotyas or good to knows before i try things out?
Appreciate any inputs. Thanks.

Yes, on the digital port
On the configurator, select 440PRO
I also changed the optical in to trigger out on the master and attach a cable to the same port onthe slave

The improvement is really worthwhile

Thanks - can you explain what triggering out the master means?

If you can organise yourself a Digital cable having RCA on one side and AES/EBU XLR on the other side, using this cable, try out the 440 Pro. Also, lifting GND of the XLR connector on the Companion unit. The soundstage dimensioning, precise imaging, overall control and dynamic behaviour will bring out the best off your Wilson Sabrinas.
IMP: Once you get to hear the full measure of this, trust me, there's no going back. The 440 Pro is there to stay so be warned.

When the amp is switched on, the trigger becomes 12V+.  This will activate secondary equipment.   The dealer who sold me the extra 220PRO included a cable and instructed me to set it up this way

The remote is assigned to the master only.  About 5 seconds after switching on the master, the slave switches itself on

I use AES in for digital and co-ax digital to the slave

Can you please explain what worthwhile improvements you notice with the Trigger ?

In my 8 years of using Dual-Mono, I have never witnessed any sonic benefits. The ONLY major sonic benefit I've noticed was setting up the Dual-Mono Digital Link cable as RCA for Master and XLR (AES/EBU) for Slave/Companion with Ground Lifted on the Slave's XLR Pin-1.

Thanks man! Really cool insight. Assuming the RCA for the slave, and XLR being connected to the slave. Lol - thanks for the forewarning. Given the price some of the used 220pros are going for, I'm tempted - but first hoping my dealer can get me a 220pro to test with my existing 220pro.

Thanks - very interesting insight. So - basically optical cable between master and slave for the trigger ... Appreciate you sharing.
