Version 7.1.3 did not improve SQ on my Cassiano D. Bass was getting imprecise and too fat with SAM on.
So besides the new functionalities I am very curious what version 8 will do to the SQ.
Christian
As an owner of Gauder Cassiano D I can confirm I had the same impression of version 7.1.3.

Try adjusting the toslink cable at Devialet's end (twisting, pinching, whatever) while music playing on your Bluesound via toslink, notice the display turning to white indicating established connection. That's how I do it.

Well, I just did the 7.1.3 upgrade and it's wonderful. As in holy crap: More liquid, coherent and natural, with better detail, depth, dynamic contrast and bass integration. Crazy good.
Y'all scared me away from 8.0! LMK if anyone has done both and preferred 8.

I preferred 7.1.3 than 8, though i missed my DsD collections. I have to convert on the fly into pcm first, for the time being.

Well I had to revert to 7.1.3 last night since bypass mode was doing some odd stuff on 8.0
Listening to Madeleine Peyroux's Careless Love now I am also hearing a more liquid and coherent sound. For me the best way of describing it is more musical. It's easier to follow a tune and the experience is more enjoyable.
I actually didn't mind 8.0 and my experiments with DSD have been very positive. However 7.1.3 wins the musical crown.

I experimented with FW version 8 for several days. Overall, I found the SQ quite good: I think I now know what is meant by the expression “more air”. I also found the ICM to be quite helpful, particularly for dialogue at lower listening volumes. However, I found the presentation overall to be a bit “thin” and I have now reinstalled FW 7.1.3 which for me is smoother, more liquid and simply more enjoyable to listen to. I did try deactivating the DPM in FW 8 for a while but was not able to discern a significant difference.

Can it be that all these new functions available from FW 8 takes more processor power and as a result SQ will suffer?
Just a thought/Mike
