New beta firmware 7.1.3 released
#51
My first impression was "crisper". Glad to see other people have used that word too, even if it does turn out to be an hallucination!

It's funny I'm not hearing "crisper"... I'm hearing smoother and more refined, more natural etc. Actually I think it's just more musical.

Obviously what we all hear will depend on a multitude of other factors: our speakers, our rooms, our ears!

But I'm definitely hearing more musical which is excellent news.  Smile

Just for fun, so far we have:

- more dynamic
- more transparent
- more detail
- much better - music is back and temp is lower
- maybe some improvement in dynamics
- maybe depth is shortened
- more "naturalness" or "realism"
- pretty much the same
- MUSICALITY is better
- more musical details
- Midrange is more liquid.
- Timbres are better.
- more dynamic
- details sounded louder and slightly bodied
- probably got some attempted fix for the air issue.
- update is to allow the 120/200/250 to be controlled by Spark/Dialogue
- seems to boot up faster.
- much more musicality.
- Details are crisper overall but there's a little more weight to the music - feels palpable
- better low level detail
- lower midrange has more weight thus offering more musicality
- more airy, more vertical sound (like surround)
- a bit more forward sounding.
- Mids are clearer/sharper and bass is firmer
- More analogue.
- positioning of musicians in the soundstage has changed
- a little smoother and more musical
- metallic edge mellowed a little.
- crisper
- more refined

;-)

I wonder if they'll ever say. Who knows, the release version may be different to the beta?

Well done for collating all the comments - interesting reading.

Just goes to show how subjective this hi-fi thing is, and how many variables there are!

Same here. Though initially I was of the position not to try a beta version when I have no clue what changes it brings
