All layer two is handled by the two switches and a Dlink 505 wireless unit in bridge mode for the Android remotes. I suspect that if the transfer from Roonserver to Devialet is 100mbps, all will work. I've yet to hear from anyone that is successfully playing Roon RAAT to Devialet at gigabit speed with hi-res content, yet Devialet says it works for them. Tomorrow I will receive a 100mbps switch. I'll switch my PC running Roonserver back to gigabit speeds to router and put the 100 mpbs switch in front of the Devialet which should mean 100 mbps between router and Devialet. We'll see if that works. Sure wish Roon Labs would weigh in... Roon is being pretty light weight at the moment. I’m a bit disappointed to be honest. I am as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if the solution requires Devialet to do something which, history shows, may take awhile. Unplugged my ethernet Cat6a cable from my Expert Pro, plugged it into a cheap ($9) 5 port 10/100 ethernet switch and then put a short cable between switch and my Devialet. Works like a charm even with 192kHz, 24Bit music files. Take out the new switch and plug the original ethernet cable back into the Devialet (e.g. running 1 gbps network), dropouts and error resume. So it appears that the machine running Roon Core does NOT need to be using a 10/100 network speed, but the Devialet does. This is still a hack but it's only $9 and it works. Not sure if there really is a downside to doing this (short of it simply being a problem that needs to be fixed). Best of all is it allows me to go back to running the PC running RoonServer at gigabit network speed which helps greatly with backups and file transfers. I'll post to the Roon forums as well... I use a Roon Nucleus plugged straight to my 440-Pro using AQ Diamond Ethernet and so far, I haven't had an occasion with error / dropouts. My internet is Verizon Fios 1 gbps. Sorry, I missed your reply. Regarding what you said about it not being an issue with AIR; this does indeed seem to rule out the possibility of flow control being an issue. However it could be RAAT is more bursty in nature so sending traffic at a much higher rate to fill the buffers than AIR. With AIR, being the virtual soundcard, one might not hit some sort of limit. Of course I’m just theorizing here, also ruling this out might be impossible for any Devialet owner since we have no control over the ethernet settings of the Devialet itself. I hope the issue will be resolved soon so the workarounds are no longer necessary! A few questions... 1) You say you have your Nucleus plugged directly into the 440 Pro. So where is the ethernet run to your router? Does the Nucleus have two eithernet ports? 2) Are you running Rock on your Nucleus? (sorry, I'm not that familiar with the Nucleus). If Rock, do you have a way to see what the ethernet adapter link speed to the Devialet is? 3) What router are you using? Answers: 1) Yes, the Nucleus is plugged directly into the Ethernet port of the 440-Pro using AQ Diamond ETH. - The Ethernet run for the Nucleus to the Router is a separate CAT6 ethernet cable. The Nucleus has 1 RJ45 port & 2 USB ports. - The RJ45 port is used for the AQ Diamond direct connection to the 440-Pro. - 1 of 2 USB port is used for the Ethernet run to my Router using an Apple RJ45 to USB dongle. - 2 of 2 USB port is used for an External Hard Drive with my music files on it. 2) Nucleus runs Roon Core & ROCK OS. { please see attachment below for more details }. There's no way to see the speed. 3) My Router is Netgear Orbi Satellite [AC3000] [img][https://ibb.co/mHmphW3][/img] RE: Roon RAAT and "An audio file is loading slowly" - mdconnelly - 31-Mar-2019 Ah, nice router @audio_engr ! Do you know offhand which Apple RJ45 to USB dongle you're using? At least some of them are limited to 10/100 mbps speed. I believe it must support USB 3.0 in order to operate at gigabit speed. Of course, I haven't a clue if/how that would explain why it's working well for you. Not sure your setup would allow it, but it would be interesting to know if it would still work well if you ran Nucleus to router and router to Devialet.
