With DSD rumoured to be coming out in the next release and the imminent arrival of the Auralic Aries I must admit I am getting rather excited by the possibilities... hang on! I haven't even heard a DSD track yet!
Has anyone on here heard DSD? Care to share your thoughts?

Guillaume,
The problem is that there are virtually no recordings made in pure DSD. Pretty much everything that claims to be DSD has at some stage gone through PCM.
As things stand, DSD is an unrealized ideal. DSD is interesting, but ...

I believe this one was mastered directly in DSD from analog:

But I know what you mean there isn't exactly much material available, particularly on this side (UK side) of the pond.
I'll do a bit of research on this if anyone is interested and post my findings.

In my opinion, it is a smart marketing move from Devialet. If one pays a lot of money for a box, one expects to be able to have the latest gimmick
So to respond to your question : no, but I will certainly try it out.

I have heard a first generation recording of an LP using both DSD and, to compare 44/16 recorded by the same guy from the same record player but not at the same time.
The DSD recording sounds better to me, but it is also louder so that could easily explain the apparently better SQ.

Devialet themselves claim that DSD offers no sonic improvement at all but they choose to implement simply cause it can be done fairly easily and because the market wants it.
