Yes, I think you're right. It certainly looks like a battery!
I've never seen a battery that's not silver and this thing is gold coloured so it might be something else. Does anyone have any idea?

It looks like a typical NVRAM/CMOS battery to me. I have seen gold-coloured ones as well as silver. Price should be more like €1.50 in reality.

If it's NVRAM, it's usually used to store settings that you want to persist when the unit is powered off. Perhaps being used for BIOS settings if the device has a BIOS? I'm speculating a bit here... Computers such as Raspberry Pi don't have a requirement for onboard batteries as there's no BIOS to speak of.

May also be used to keep a real-time clock/calendar running when the hardware is otherwise powered down.
