iTunes integration with Devialet remote app

Yes it's 100% stable, but sound quality drops a bit compared to streaming from the PC itself.

You are correct, Confused. I got excited when I first accessed my music, thinking it was the iTunes library on my PC. Instead, it's a bunch of music I had loaded on my iTouch... but the kicker is that the songs are Apple lossless, so the fidelity is just as good as the stuff on my computer. Sigh. I thought I had discovered a better way of accessing my iTunes library on the computer. Still, when I use the Remote app and access the iTunes library on my computer, it is more stable (not completely) than JRiver, Fidelify, etc. Just not what I thought was a very neat solution.

My first post, and not yet a Devialet owner, but your post does apply to one of my general questions. If I understand, you are using the Devialet app to stream music from your computer, but you are using an Apple Airport network; wireless from computer to Airport Extreme > wireless to airport express > ethernet into Devialet? Or is the Airport Extreme wired to your computer?

I understand (I think) that Dev. doesn't use UPnP, but I would want to be able to stream from my iMac to the Dev. as I do now with my Naim Unitiqute. I've tried a wireless system, going from my iMac to an Airport Express, but I did find the sound quality too compromised with the Airport Express.

I am guessing that you have gone to this Apple airport Ext to airport Exp. as a way of not using the Dev. AIR system?

Thanks.

Welcome to the Devialet world, Damon. As you will note from my response in this thread to Confused, I was actually accessing my iTouch and not my PC when I extolled the virtues of the Devialet AIR and iTunes integration on the Devialet remote app.

Now, as to your questions:
1) I am using Devialet AIR (a streaming protocol that acts as a sound card on your computer) to stream music from my PC. I am using an Apple Airport network; wireless from my PC to AirPort Extreme > wireless to AirPort express > ethernet into Devialet. The AirPort Extreme is NOT wired to my PC, though Devialet says I would get a better result this way.
2) You said "I am guessing that you have gone to this Apple airport Ext to airport Exp. as a way of not using the Dev. AIR system?" Nope, I am using Devialet Air. It just turns out that my router (as I live in France, I have an Orange telecom router) was not playing nicely with the Devialet (you would think French to French would be impécable mais non) so I went the AirPort route, which is recommended by Devialet. As to the quality, when it works, I have blissful experiences. The beauty of Devialet AIR is that it sends bit perfect steams to your Devialet, bypassing all the nonsense that typically is associated with playing music through a PC. All the processing is done in the Devialet. Magic, *sigh* when it works! Hope this helps.
