I have not seen any control software that can compete with Roon.
But I mean the necessity of useing PC/laptop (keep it activated) to play the music.
From my point, it is not the most convenient solution.
I used to run Roon on my regular PC but as you write MIKE not the best solution so I got a NUC and runs Roon ROCK on it. Starts up in around 20s and consumes very little power and it workes flawless with my SOtM sMS-200 Ultra.
