Nothing Like that.
Roon - Also has control. [ Example - Roon installed on MacBook, you can also use MacBook to browse stream music, you can also use iPad/Android phone or tablet to control Roon on MacBook]
RoonServer - Head less usage [Example - RoonServer installed on MacBook, you can control it on iPad/Android Phone or tablet]

And @baddog is right. However I have tested both and did not find issues for my small music database is concerned.
