Phantom remote reaction time

Hi, 

I have two Silver phantoms (in stereo) and two Remotes. My experience with both remotes is that it takes some time when I adjust the volume before anything actually happens. Sometimes I even have to lift/shake the control before it is able to connect. 

Anyone else have the same experience? Is there any tips or tricks to avoid this? I have replaced the batteries with brand new ones...

I've the same problem with its origanl batteries, replacing new battery improved a bit but still slow response
