That is odd, that there is no difference when turning SAM on or off. As soniclife notes, the name you give your configuration should show up on the display on the amp. A year or so ago when I was fooling around with SAM profiles (against all good advice) I always heard a difference, even with SAM at 0%.
I can only think that there must be an error in the configuration, or in the transfer of the config to the SD card. Have you tried doing a complete wipe of the card, and emptying the trash, before reloading the config file?
I heard the Atohm GT1 with SAM and it was very, very good.
