Been listening to 8.0 for a few hours non stop today (listening to wide range of music classical, prog, rock, pop) my conclusion is that while vocals seem clearer music is not as enjoyable for longer listening periods. The treble and mids are more pronounced, it's louder and for my taste lacks the musicality of the beta 7.1.3. My left ear is quite sensitive and it gets hot when the presentation is brighter. On the plus side the bass presentation was certainly more taught. So for now I'll be reverting back to 7.1.3. and possibly going to the version before to that. Whilst the new features are nice to have, the SQ for me is the most important factor and this latest version doesn't do it for me. I also found that the sound stage/field seemed narrower. I guess different strokes etc...
