The Phase + or - is meant to be used on album by album or even track by track while you play, not as a permanent setting. On my 250 remote the button is labelled 'Invert'. On the new remote it is 'Tone'. I assign phase invert to this button and use it a lot
Haven't thought about the aspect of phase correctness before. Have you any knowledge of the recording path, from the microphone to the digital storage device?
Mixing consoles do have a phase invert button to correct false cableing or multi microphone per instrument phase shifts, but my experience with noticeable phase corrections were only between left and right channel. The phase parameter in the expert menu is, as far as I noticed inverting the phase of both channels, isn't it?
I will have to check this out tonight with some songs.
Cheers,

Yes, you flip absolute phase, so both channels at the same time. I just listen for what sounds "best" to me. It is not always easy to hear the difference. In general this is a subtle change, but if you feel a thin veil has been removed you're probably on the right setting.
