Have you tried USB? Connect the laptop to the Devialet using USB; you can still interact with the laptop over the network.
When I tried out the options I preferred USB to the network connection. I found it easier to set up (less mucking about with buffering) and ultimately more reliable.
BTW; the latest firmware (v 7.1.1) gives us bi-directional USB, so you can "record" from it too.
