Matte black , like mine , is far easier to keep clean
I agree with F1 .. the 2 d prems are an amazing bargain re sound quality
At those prices twin D prems is a no brainer , the only REAL consideration is SAM (which I dont like that much)
USB output can be used with a usb to spdif converter... firmware upgrades like icm , subsonic filter , etc etc all still apply to the D prem
I would jump at those prices ... IE I would like to buy the twin d prems as I can add one to make a 500 system and then flog the other for about the same as I paid for both...
the 2 master 400 system is also great..if you decide to use only one .. the other will sell far easier than a companion
Roon/tidal > Squeezebox touch  > Trinnov St2 or DIRAC (minidsp ddrc-22d) > Dual mono D premiers > Vivid Audio Giya G1 Spirits  ...fully treated  dedicated 6x8m room
