One last off topic reply, you can set 'processor affinity' in Windows as well (for Mac I don't know). This means that you can assign a (or some) CPU core(s) for each seperate running process. There's a great tool called Process Lasso with which you have all the options although you could do this with the Windows Taskmanager as well (right click a process and select 'Set affinity').
