Interesting, I have heard precisely the opposite from people going from 400 to 800. One person I sold my 800 to was absolutely amazed at the improvement. 

So my guess is that this is massively speaker/system dependent.

I have just recently gone from 400 to 800 and can confirm that there was a vast improvement in my system.

As I said my conclusions come from the context of my system in my listening room. From reading comments on here you do not get the leap in performance like you do from 200 to 400. Also am i the only person who noticed a laid back quality to the 250 ? Some people may like this I don't so does adding another 250 to form an 800 remove this trait ? I would love to hear a 400 v 800 for sure.
