Hi Dr Tone, this is indeed true and confirmed by Mutec. It can't pass through and/or re-clock DSD/DoP and converts DSD/DoP streams (64-256) to PCM audio with a selectable output clock rate.
Currently one also has to manually switch to DSD/DoP mode but this will become automatic with the new firmware that should be released this month.
The Mutec is powered by an internal SMPS except for the USB input module which (to provide additional power domain isolation) is indeed powered by the USB bus.
