2 channel Phantom with 24bit bluray?
#1
I remember with my old 2 channel setup with B&W speaker, Thule pre/amplifier connecting to PlayStation 3 with Toslink - I could get 2 channel 24bit sound from my bluray movies, because it down mixes multi channel to stereo. It was night and day different when I example switch from DTS to DTS-HD Master from PlayStation 3. Now with my 2 Phantom Gold connection to PlayStation 3 with Toslink, I can hear no different between DTS to DTS-HD Master or Dolby Digital to DolbyHD. I presume I only get 16bit sound now from my bluray movies.

I found this 4K HDR Multi-Channel Digital to Two-Channel Audio Converter:

What if I bought this, connecting my Dialog to this Converter with Toslink, my PS3 with HDMI IN - Do you think I would get 24bit stereo for bluray movies like my old system? It looks quit interesting, if it works.

Hi, did you test the Atlona with bluray movies? Did you got better sound? I'm thinking of getting a pair of Phantom Golds and connect them to the Xbox to play bluray movies. But I'm not sure if the Xbox optical output will send out 24 bit 2 ch from bluray movies. So the option would be to get the Atlona to do the work.
