2 phantom II ultimate vs 1 phantom I Ultimate
#1
Hello there,

my first post in this nice chat¡¡

I´ve been a while looking for these incredible speakers and I am tottally in love wit them. The only thing is that my budget is not that high (around 3.000€), so my biggest concern now is whether buy 2 Phantom II ultimate, to get an estereo sound, or just one Phantom I. I have a 35sq meter room where i will put them.

Any thoughts on this? I woul much apreciate it if you can help me with this matter.

Thanks a lot to all the community in advance.

Cheers

I would always select stereo. Even if the Ultimate 108 may be a better loudspeaker, a stereo pair of Ultimate 98 will give better sound than a single 108. A stereo pair of Ultimate 108 on the other hand... but your budget will not allow that. If you know for certain that you'll be able to buy another 108 in a few months, then maybe you could go for a single 108 now. Othervice go for a pair of 98

disclaimer: I have not heard any of the Ultimates, but I know the I and II quite well

It really depends what type of music listening you want to do. For example, if all you want is to use a Phantom for music in the kitchen, then go with a single Phantom. If you're looking to sit down in a space set up for stereo critical listening, then 2 Phantoms is the way to go.
2 Channel Power / Signal Path: APC H15 → Mistral Audio W-3900 → Custom Roon Server → Silent Angel Bonn N8 → Silent Angel Forester F1 → miniDSP SHD Studio → Mutec MC-3+ USB → Devialet Phantom I 108dB

Headphone iFi Audio Micro iDSD Finale → Grado GS1000i

I think, the best for you is to go for 2x 98db ultimate. They are really a step forward.
