It looks like it's pretty simple to use the 2-box Devialet to implement an active 2-way system using the boxes in dual stero and implementing high and low pass filters.
But, unfortunately, it looks like an active 3-way system isn't possible because there is no capability of doing both high and low pass (necessary for a midrange driver) on the same speaker output.
Does anyone have any creative ways around this?
Some crafty setup?
Hacking the config file?

Ask Devialet to do the configuration. They can do the 3way or more.

Thanks for your reply.
How does that work? Do I email them, tell them the config I want, and they send me back a config file?

That is what I have been told by Devialet. I haven't tried myself but I'm interested to go that way some day.

For a 3 way system you need 3 Devialets, they used to be prepared to supply custom configurations for this, maybe they still do.
They have certainly built more than one system using the B&W Nautilus speaker and 4 Devialets. The Nautilus is supplied with a 4 way active crossover which they emulated in the DSP of the Devialet then drove each of the drive units directly.
Not a cheap solution.

Yes, that's what I wish to do, except 3 way (needing 3 Devialets) and using ATC (who also make active speakers).

Why not just get the active ATCs? It will be rather expensive and rather troublesome to have to get devialet to do any minor changes you wish to make on a 3 way system
If you insist on using 3 devialets , I would use a miniDSP nanodigi 2x8b prior to them , this offers l/r spdif in and 4x l/r spdif out , just use 3 of the spdif outs in front of the devialets.

Because I prefer not to invest in the energy inefficient, hot, class AB amps that ATC continues to stick with.
As far as miniDSP goes, I don't see what benefit it brings to the party, unless I want to do PEQ/convolution, which I can do via Roon, anyway.
Also, using the miniDSP makes the phono integration a pain in the butt.

The nanodigi will do delay , phase , peq , crossover , slopes and level for each of its digital outputs ...in real time too.
You feed each devialet a digital signal .. TT will be an issue unless you use an AD (devialet does an AD on your TT anyway)

Or you could use the minidsp 4x10hd and 3 class d amps..this has an analog input for your TT and toslink/coax/aes input
output is toslink/coax/aes digital and 8 analog , balanced and single ended
D-sonic make some stunning class d amps at very good prices.

The price of 3 x 220pros is around $30k ...or 3 x 130 pros is $22 000 .. a fair whack !!!!
What ATCs are you considering/do you own , I owned the 50's and 100's actives

I own a miniDSP OpenDRC DI and DA. I've gone that route and prefer to avoid the clutter of multiple boxes. I like the cleanliness of the Devialet design.
Yes, I'm aware that Devialet does AD of the TT - not an issue for me.
I already have 400 Pro. It's not the cheapest route, but the cost of adding another 200/220 box is fine with me.
As for which ATC, the SCM40 v 2 is the leading candidate due to availability. The SCM50 passive is rare as hen's teeth.
