Repeating from another thread.
From my supplier:
"I just received a message from Devialet that the new Ultimate 108 customer version doesn’t have an optical-only mode. You would need the custom version of the Phantoms which isn’t available in the Ultimate until next year. If it's to go onto a Dante system, you either need to buy the legacy version of the Phantom 1 or wait until the custom version of the Ultimate comes out. This will likely be Q3 next year."

They’ve told me it may come in a firmware update. It also doesn’t support multi room yet.

I was actually told by Devialet Support that 'Optical Direct' would be part of the Ultimates. This was beginning of October. The message you got from your supplier can also be read as ...108 customer version doesn’t have an optical-only mode yet. Let's hope a future firmware upgrade brings it!

I am Henri, Solutions Ambassador for Devialet in APAC, our Customer Service team shared your contact with us.
As of now, the Phantom Ultimate 108dB available for sale does not meet the requirements to be used in a home cinema system:
-> it does not have an Optical Direct Mode (and probably never will), hence latency is indeed going to be an issue on this version.
-> it is not yet compatible with Dante, our R&D team is working on a Custom version of Phantom Ultimate which will be Dante enabled.
At this point the info we have is that it will be a different model, hence I do not recommend purchasing ? x Phantom Ultimate as we cannot guarantee they would be convertible into the Custom version later.
The Custom version will be available through the first half of 2026, would you be interested that we keep you updated once it's available?//

I really can't understand why they would not include an optical direct mode at launch. Its not like they need to engineer a solution from scratch. They could have used the existing solution and integrated into the new firmware. Most of the work was done during the first iteration of the speaker.

Yeah it’s ridiculous. At this price point they could have included Dante in all models.
