Are more details about DOS3 and hardware changes available?
#1
1) The processor on the new Phantom Ultimates is listed as NXP i.MX 8M Nano which based on

https://www.nxp.com/products/processors-...MX8-SERIES

comes with 64-bit ARM-A53 cores whereas previous generation had 32-bit ARM-A9 cores. I don't have the details of the SoC from the prior generation to compare these side by side, so insight on that would be helpful. What I'm looking for is whether in terms of processing power the new generation will have room to support things it doesn't seem to have support for out of the box like surround sound / multispeakers beyond just stereo. I couldn't find other details like size of RAM on new generation

There's no DSP on the new generation's SoC, I wonder if the speakers may have a dedicated DSP chip outside the SoC or do the processing on normal processor cores?

2) Is the standard TOSLINK optical input port replaced with a mini-TOSLINK 3.5mm round port? That's best guess from pictures and what's in the 2 page user manual.

3) I recall during upgrade from DOS1 to DOS2 there were a ton of communication from Devialet about feature updates, what works, what doesn't and what will be addressed in future revisions. I haven't been able to find anything of sorts regarding DOS3, how it compares with DOS2, will it be only available for the new generation devices or will any of the older devices be able to upgrade to it and what would the consequences be.

DOS3 is only available for the new generation devices, and I doubt that will change.

As for the inputs, did you see the "compare speakers" page? https://www.devialet.com/en-us/phantom-speaker/compare/ It looks new, I do not remember seeing it before! Very well done, too. Anyway, it says 1x TOSLINK (optical) for the Ultimate 108 and 1x mini-TOSLINK (optical) for the Ultimate 98. So I guess it's standard on the big ones and mini/round on the small ones, as before.
