Bad feet
#1
Three isolation feet came off from my D 400 (2 from Master + 1 from Slave) when I removed the amplifiers from its shelf earlier today.

The heat from the transistors makes the rubber feet soft and gooey and that makes the feet stick to the surface underneath. To make things worse Devialet has put flimsy plastic clips inside the chassis for the feet to attach to. Once the feet get detached the clips comes loose and are now rattling around on the inside. Sad

The only way to fix this yourself is to remove the bottom plate but that would make the warranty invalid. I guess I now have to send both amps to France to get this fixed.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do to solve things?

Not a happy camper today...

Yes one of mine came off a while back on my old 120, which resulted in the clip rattling around the innards. I glued the foot back on and left the clip inside. Devialet fixed it when it went back for the upgrade. I don't think you'll invalidate the warranty if you open it - there was a thread about this a while back.

Thanks James, do you know were I can find that thread...?

I also thought of using glue or blutack but it's mainly the clips that makes me concerned right now. And since I don't plan to upgrade this is of course a bit of a headache for me at the moment, having to send the amps away because of three plastic clips.

Anyway, I will place small pieces of cloth underneath the feet to prevent this from happening again. Stupid construction...

Two feet came loose on my 200 not long after I bought it. I stuck them back on using Glu Dots by Blu Tack. They're flat blobs of a very sticky substance that are just the right size.

When I opened the box on my new 400 a year or so ago, one of the rubber feet was lose and I could hear
the clip inside.
I opened my Devialet and put the clip back on the rubber foot and then put the bottom case
back on the Devialet.
That was done before I plugged it in for the 1st time.

Anyone know whether this is still a problem with the Pro models? I assume so (i.e. no change to the casework).

I had the same problem with the 400, after the upgrade to the pro the clip was fixed again (no rating of parts inside) but I do not know if they improved the design.

Thanks guys for all your help and support! Sure sounds like this is an area of possible improvement for the Devialet R&D team...

My very kind hifi dealer here in Stockholm/Sweden has offered to reattach the feet for me, free of charge.  Angel

Anyone think about replacing them with Stillpoints? They sell adapters may have to be made for Devialet units. Seems to me that this would be the ultimate vibration tweak. There may be other products that can do the job.
