My Phantom voyage
Lenge siden sist, ja @struts!
Congratulations on the Ultimates! I must admit they're tempting, but I've lost all faith in Devialet as a company, and won't risk owning two really expensive bricks in a couple of years. The Sigberg Audios are off the shelf drivers and amplifiers where the wizardry lies in the combination of drivers, tuning and cabinet. The repairability is much better even if Sigberg Audio should cease to exist. And the most important thing; the speakers sound amazing!
Living room: Sigberg Audio Manta/10D subs, MiniDSP SHD Studio.
Den: Sigberg Audio SBS.1/Inkognito subs, MiniDSP SHD Studio.
In the cupboard: Some bits and pieces of a Phantom Silver 1. gen.

Nothing in your reasoning I can fault there @ragwo. I guess I pin my hopes on the notion that the Phantoms will not go the same way as the Expert line and end up as a tour de force of hardware potential unfulfilled by its underprioritized and underinvested software.

The fact that my 2017 Phantom Golds were still receiving more-or-less regular firmware updates when I sold them gave me cause for optimism. But I concede that in a private equity-steered company where the majority owners are dispassionate financial investors and not passionate audiophiles (although both sorts can fail, albeit usually for completely different reasons) all bets are off.

Fingers crossed!
