Does not recognise HDMI connection after a while
#21
Hi, I'm new here. Dione is waiting in the wardrobe for Christmas with the S95D, so while I'm reading about these issues, I'm getting ready for some troubles too Smile. My routine is that I have all my devices, like the TV, AV system, Shield TV, etc., connected to a remote-controlled power switch, which turns off all the devices at night and turns them on in the morning. Do you think this could help with the issue? Or does it happen when you just turn off the TV during the day and then switch it back on after a while?

I am using the Dione with my Sony Bravia 8 K-55XR84.
In the beginning it got the same problems with sound loss.
Then there was contact with Devialet and after a update the problem was solved.
Now the problem is back again this week and there was no update on my Sony so i guess Devialet did an update and now the sound true hdmi gets lost and even when i do a reboot of my soundbar or tv doesn’t help.

So i won’t advise anyone to buy a Devialet product. Yes the sound is amazing but the problems with Devialt are to big.

I really don't like to hear that. Is there a way to check the firmware version to see if it changed on the Dione?
Is there any workaround, like manually re-pairing HDMI ARC? Or how are you handling it now? Thanks for the response.

You can check the firmware true your webbrowser. Just go to the ip of your Devialet. This month i started to write down the firmware version and try to do this every month. So i can check what is going wrong. I do this with my Devialet and with my tv.

Yes - in the app. And NO - THERE IS NOT any firmware upgrade for 2.5 years.
Everybody is waiting.
Much more likely your TV got an upgrade and make thing behave differently.<

Hello everyone,

We have now also bought a Dione and had the same problem with the HDMI port from day 1. We have a Sony AG9. I have to reset the soundbar every time because at some point in the middle of a movie it loses the connection and there is no more sound and it can no longer be controlled. Over the Christmas period, I used the temporary solution via the optical audio connection. This is an unpleasant option because you have to control everything via the app. Of course, everything is easier to operate via HDMI... I just don't understand why there hasn't been an update for so long. My answer from Devialet Support on 23.12.2024: Hello Daniel,

Thank you for your feedback.

This phenomenon occurs with some TV models. We have already solved this problem for several of them, and those still affected are being dealt with as we go along. We apologise for the inconvenience!
These televisions don't check when they're switched on whether an HDMI soundbar is connected, they wait for a signal from the soundbar to tell them so. Except that the Dione only transmits this information at start-up.
In practical terms, if the soundbar has not been switched off and you switch on your television, it will not look for a signal and will not receive one from the Dione because the latter will not restart. The application will give you the error message ‘No cable connected’ and no sound will come out of your Dione.
For the moment, the solution is to turn off the TV and the Dione and then turn on the TV first and then the Dione.

An update is planned but no date has been announced for the moment. Otherwise, we recommend that you temporarily use the Dione in optical mode.

Have a good day.

Very unfortunate with the software, also the fact that volume 35 is always selected after a restart is very annoying...

I would be really interested to know if there is any Sony TV owner who has got the Dione running via HDMI without any problems...

Best regards
Daniel

PS: Our Dione gets extremely hot on the underside - is this also the case with your Dione?

I was also concerned about how the Dione would work with the QE55S95D, but fortunately, it works well with this Samsung. I only have HDMI-CEC enabled. However, I experimented with Devialet IP Control and, using the REST API and an Android app, I created shortcuts on my phone's home screen for Volume-Up, ... and also for Restart. The app is called HTTP Request Shortcuts.

Perhaps this could be a temporary solution for you until they do something with the firmware. It seems to me that a single click on an icon on the phone's home screen is much simpler than turning the TV and Dione Off and On, or typing the Dione's IP address into a browser and searching for the restart option in the menu, which is also a possibility.

But most of the stuff is available in the Devialet App anyway.
You need to discover your device ID. So not very comfortable.
The only useful is the reboot/restart as for that you usually need to switch off and on.
Unfortunately it does not offer a power on.
The restart/reboot can be done as well by accessing the Dione via browser. On page/item/tab 7 general you will find a reboot button.
And you can just pin it in your mobile browser if need be.

For that I have asked Support to add that at least  to the app over a year ago. As you see - nothing happened.
Here you see they are not willing to help for such REALLY simple things.
They gave a shit on us

Yes, most functions are in the app, and the rest are on the device page.

Device ID is not needed as the manual states:
The only supported {deviceId} today is "current". "current" device refers to the dispatcher. Page #10.
So, for example, for VolumeDown:
POST: http://10.0.0.X/ipcontrol/v1/systems/cur...volumeDown

Not to mention that the app searches for the device every time it starts, and I have to click through 2 pages before I can even get to the volume control, which takes a long time. Icons on a separate phone screen are faster, but that’s just my opinion. Smile

Another thing is the support—it’s truly terrible, and the app is slow. Moreover, I noticed a multichannel dropout in the middle of a movie, switching to stereo. This has happened twice so far.
As for the API, there is also the option to configure the equalizer, but I haven’t tried it yet:
Query or set equalizer gains/preset for the designated system. Page #16.
