Canadian Distributor no longer carries Devialet
#1
Plurison, which was the Canadian distributor for Devialet, has been sold to the Focal/Naim group and it appears from their web site they will not carry Devialet in their line-up. Wonder who will represent Devialet moving forward.

I have a dim memory of Devialet changing their distribution system in North America; was that about 18 months ago? I have no idea what it changed to, if it did actually change. HiFi Centre here is the biggest Naim dealer, and they added Devialet about .... two years ago? I wonder if they will now stop carrying it. I haven't been there for three years so I don't really know their attitude towards Devialet. They are, or were, very big on Naim and Macintosh.

I think that Plurison also did the Canadian, or North American, upgrade and repair work for Devialet. I'd be interested to know about the service side of things on our continent.

Maybe Devialet are centring on direct sales, cutting out the middleman (dealer) and of course they have in certain places their own shops. There is a school of thought that direct sales through internet promotion is the future. Devialet have offered an online shop for a while. Prices are the same as those through dealers, so, maybe they are changing the circumstance so they don’t need to pay a dealer subsidy.

As an American I have had problems with parts and repairs from European brands. Just anecdotal, but it often traced back to changes in distributor. With an American made product I can load it up and take it to who made it.
