Cheap but surprising good streamer

Ok, this require a little DIY but easy.

I tried Volumio on a Beagleboard Black.

Downloaded Volumio and startup using SD card on the small Beagleboard.

It successfully scan my SMB shares on my NAS and creates library.
Plays back hires flac via USB to D200 flawlessly!

Remote control via any mobile with browser or laptop/PC

It's a DLNA and AirPlay as well. No problem streaming Tidal.

Total cost S$100 (USD 70)
I am pleasantly surprised at how good it sound...
($100 includes Beagleboard black, case and PSU, exclude microSD)

Something to think bout for the forummers here
One thing, it supports DSD playback, but it does not work well with D200 yet...

Tried volumio and runeaudio on pi but it was too unstable, been using daphile on a celeron nuc, it's great, u can test it out by creating a bootable usb and grabbing an old laptop via usb. Use ickstream plugins also
Devialet 120 <> Cremona Auditor M <> roon core running on my iMac via Air Ethernet with iPad/Android remote.
MQA via Tidal app also plays great but not as user friendly as have to use splashtop app to control remotely.

Had no issues when using BB. Likely not enough CPU for pi, maybe pi2 will work better?

Pi 2 works flawlessly. Looks like CPU limitation for Beagleboard. I could play DSD which it converts to 192khz.

Hello,

@craigyoung: what Alsa settings are you using in daphile ?

D200/BW805d with Athom ZEF MAX cables.
The system is slowly breaking in, 5 weeks, close to 100 hours I think, and I feel high frequencies sometimes too present, harsh on some records but it's improving. I feel a high SAM % has a negative impact on hf, emphasing harshness.
On some records it's already magic ! (fw 8.1.2)
I'm surprised with the good bass presence (compared to the size of the 805d) and the voices witchery.... Sorry, English is not my mother tongue Smile

What a difference between IPad/qobuz/AirPlay/airport express/optical and Daphile/qobuz/wireworld starlight 7 (usb pin 1, +, isolated on the PC slot)/USB, incredibly well balanced and no tiring listening with Daphile (Alsa buffer 120, period 36).

I second the pi 2.
I had some stuttering issues but after a slight overclock all is well.
I'm using rune audio as I found volumio and moode very unstable.
Rune just works and I can add Internet radio streams.
Is your setup still stable?
Have you experienced any drop outs without overclocking?
