I want to add a subwoofer, specifically a B&W DB3D, via the RCA output.
I'm unsure how to configure the RCA output: as a pre-out or as a subwoofer output.
I want to set the subwoofer's crossover very low, at 40 Hz, using its filter, and I want the volume, once the subwoofer's gain is set, to be controlled by the Devialet.
I've tried to find the correct configuration, but haven't gotten a helpful answer. I'm hoping those of you with a subwoofer connected under the same circumstances can advise me.

I have a similar configuration, and use the RCA configured as a sub-woofer output. I believe that's the recommended approach since it down-mixes the stereo signal to mono, which is generally what you want to drive a single sub.

Thanks for replying.
Let me explain: The RCA port configuration would be:
Preamplified output (mono)
Mix mono
Relative level 0
Filtering Full range
Volume control Variable
And on the subwoofer, I'll choose the crossover frequency and other parameters.
Is this correct?

Yes, that's right. You could also apply a low-pass filter to this output if you wish (I do, and I have a high-pass filter with the same corner frequency applied to the main speaker outputs). Finally, I'd enable the mute option for the sub-woofer output - that's probably on by default anyway.

I share my experience with Expert 400, hope it is useful :
1) RCA subwoofer mono out does not work for me on the slave, somehow I must output stereo for it to have sound, when mono no sound
2) even in stereo, it sometimes doesn't work immediately when I change the config file.... I have to try saving the config files for the slave for a few times and reboot and suddenly it works, all I can say is the RCA out is buggy at least on the slave
3) the filter order 1,2,3 and 4 does not work like other subwoofer filter order, Devialet has its own formula, make reference to posts here in this forum, I think someone posted a conversion formula. I ended up using the subwoofer's own crossover as I found order 4 sounds best and the normal order 4 crossover is not the order 4 as per Devialet config.
4) even if you want to try out the Devialet filtering, it is hard to use.... the settings does not get saved in the configurator, although the output file does have that config. It makes trial and error experiment very difficult as you have to remember on your own what config you were on previously.

In point 1 you say that the subwoofer isn't working with the Companion.
I haven't tried it yet (I probably will next Saturday), but I wanted to ask if you've connected the Master Companion as described in the manual:
If you wish to use your Companion device’s inputs, connect the two devices with a stereo mini-jack analog
cable from the in/out trigger connector of the Master to the RS232 connector of the Companion.
Did you make that connection?

No, I haven't tried that, and I am not using the companion as input device either. In my case, I don't connect companion with the master using the mini-jack cable, I only connect RCA-XLR.
In any case, if I output stereo on the companion, it works. If I output mono (subwoofer) on the companion, it doesn't work. Not that it bothers me, as I have a pair of spare RCA anyway....
