D440 reduces volume after 20 mins

I've set the start-up volume at -10db.  This caters for the fairly low digital output of the streamer.  The display shows -10db

After about 20 mins the music goes soft.  The display now shows -16db (its always -16)

Started doing this about 2 months back

It could be the batteries in the remote are getting low.

Nope. It's not batteries. Volume goes to -16 dB if there is no active sound source. But, it shouldn't if the music is playing. Maybe the input is too weak.
