Firmware updates to improve streaming with UPnP and Qobuz Connect
#11
Excellent hint - Jplay for iOS (and Jcat for Windows as an option) for any upnp server integrates Qobuz and Tidal, like Roon.
Lifetime or anually license available as well as a free trial.

Dear friends,

I appreciate your thoughts and proposals to make use of different streaming apps and tools.
I myself am a lifetime subscriber of Roon from the beginning and I really enjoy listening to music offered by Qobuz via Roon RAAT protocol.
Nevertheless, with the Devialet Core Infinity upgrade offered some years ago, it was promised that UPnP should work as well.
I thought that it indeed works for some of you using BubbleUPnP on Android. When I tested it with MConnect on iOS it failed.
I reported this to the Devialet User Support and indeed they accepted this to be an error in the Devialet Expert OS which would need to be corrected.
Now, they informed me that this will not be done anymore.
I am not disappointed that new streaming capabilities, such as Qobuz Connect will not be implemented for the Expert line, that's true for other brands as well.
What I think is not acceptable is that "errors found in older units" (as said by the user support) will not be corrected.
Isn't this a matter of reliability?

I agree with you 100 %, you make an important point in principle but I doubt Devialet will change it's mind and ways. Yes, they have not dealt with this issue correctly and they have not paid enough attention and care to loyal customer. It has all been so apparent for long now. The message you got from support just underlines what has been obvious through their actions for many years. They will not change. Now we either sell our Devialet amps in anger (like I have done, not once but twice...) or continue to enjoy them regardless of Devialet's attitude as a company (like I am doing now, as a third time owner).

To be clear, I don't expect any product manufacturer to continue support and product evolution indefinitely. But there are a number of well documented bugs with Devialet promises to resolve, that have been totally ignored. Mine has been with known bugs in the configurator - particularly with dual mono setups like my 440 Pro. And given that the configurator is an online tool, I'm not sure what we Expert Pro owners will do once they take that down. Surely there must be a way to edit or create new configurations without dependence on Devialet, but damned if I know how. At the least, Devialet should release the configurator specs so that some enterprising soul could produce a standalone method of accomplishing the same.

Frustrating for sure. Our only recourse is to learn and move on, hence why I will never buy another Devialet product, despite the fact that the Expert Pros have been an amazing product.

I agree what is said regarding the configurator, this should be open for the existing customer. It has never been a good implementation.
A believe that one reason for the missing support of our systems might be the missing existance of the programmers for the "expert" software. Once they left the company, it is suddenly a hugh project to start and learn the foreign codec once again, beeing able to edit the right things. So thats why I never believed in help, just my own explantion from a similar situation in our company.
Devialet might decided that a complete new software system would be the ideal solution for the new Astra unit.
