I don't understand what you mean. I run Linn Konfig on my Mac and it works brilliantly. And I control my Linn DS devices from my iPhone and iPads.

I think you will hardly find a complaint from me on this website anywhere about Devialet. You will find tons of enthusiasm. But the AIR thing has soured me, even though I have an Antipodes server. I think it should work. I'm trying the Grimm LS1, I'll see how that goes. They seem to wholly deliver from what I can tell, and I have found nary a complaint anywhere.

Nary a complaint, i should hope not. Looking them up, i see they are $40,000usd.

Ha! Absolutely. But a D800 ain't chump change, and it should do everything it's advertised to do as well. (The Grimm is a demo at a very good price).

On the contrary, my impression is that many of the people who have posted about problems (including, but not limited to AIR) are at the same time making positive comments about the sound quality.

That may be so, but the fact remains that Devialet designed, marketed and sold their products to work in a home environment where the quality of wi-fi signals should be expected to vary widely.  I am not saying that's an easy piece of engineering to get right, but wireless AIR was a heavily-promoted feature of Devialet products so it's surely reasonable for their customers to expect it to work as advertised.

(31-Oct-2015, 17:50)Mohmm Wrote: That was my situation that I solved (without referring to any forum) by getting a run of ethernet from my Mac to the D under the floor. For this little insight I don't need any technical expertise. There is still the SQ premium option to run a line of AES/EBU cable between Mac and D, wjich is sonically even a tick better than ethernet. In this forum, however, were hundreds of posts complaining about ridiculous issues that could be solved by a bit of common sense. But the posters preferred to flatly accuse D for not having foreseen their desolate WiFi situation. OK, I am exaggerating a bit, forgive me.

There are also a good number of posts from people who are very technically capable and have invested a great deal of time and energy to help debug problems acknowledged by Devialet.  (I don't include myself in that category.)  I think your post above does them a disservice.

On Facebook I saw someone write that Devialet is a bunch of autistic engineers. I'll admit it's a bit harsh but it does seem to hold some truth. Big Grin

Toczy, during Warsaw Audio Show I spoke with Devialet rep and He said me that there is only around 10 software specialists workiem now in Devialet. Devialet would like to get more software geniuses but there is a shortage of Them in today's world. He said me that They are All going to USA to worek for american companies. So it is so hard to hire a good one in Europe.

Also he told me that in next Year there will be a new firmware with sth new and ,,big". For this Year maybe there will be a firmware update with minor changes.

The shortage of good software developers in a worldwide problem that has led to a plethora of promising but spotty apps/programs. Unfortunately, companies are willing to offer products that they know are suboptimal and we have work around. This is affecting the best of companies.

I'm not surprised. A long time ago I already mentioned somewhere else on the forum that the salaries devialet offers are way too low to attract good developers. This was based on a job opening listing on their website. (It's still open by the way and many other jobs as well: http://en.devialet.com/jobs-en-us)

edit: I wonder if they've explored the option to hire a freelance specialist or specialist company to work with them.

Interesting job listing, Antoine. I agree with your thoughts about the salary level, at least for the software developer position (the only one I can reasonably comment on).

Maybe they should look for people that use their ears instead! The B&W system i  heard Warsaw was not bad but it also clearly told me why I moved on from Devialet.

You who visited Munich this spring may remember the comment that they ever use their ears in development, time for a change perhaps...
