Arvus H1-D
#31
Still no updates, and the box needs to be factory reset, and then rebooted, about once a day. Arvus won’t even confirm the actual reset process.

Arvus refunded me. They’ve yet to arrange pick up of the old devices, of which I still have two.

I bought a Blustream SW42DA, which is working so much better. When I’ve a moment I’ll start a new thread and describe my experience.

I work closely with Elytone, the ODM that manufactures the hardware platform used in the H1D. My involvement is specifically on the network audio side and broader system integration, but I’m not affiliated with Arvus and can’t speak to their customer support or commercial decisions. That said, I’ve been part of the development journey of this platform from the beginning.

The hardware itself has been solid for quite some time. However, early deployments were hampered by software integration issues—primarily surrounding Dante clocking and DDM memory stability, as well as Linux driver-level behavior. These challenges were tied to the complex interface between Dante and ADI platforms, not to Elytone or the base hardware itself. Unfortunately, some units were pushed to market when the platform was still in EVT (Engineering Validation Testing), against strong engineering recommendations.

I’m happy to share that, after considerable effort, of the ODM Engineering teams, the platform is now stable and performing as intended. I’ve personally logged over 5 million seconds of uptime on a test unit and would now consider the system release-grade.

I’m offering to sell a small number of Elytone VID1X1 units (identical core hardware) from my own stock for those interested in getting a stable, supported version directly. This is not a business move—I originally co-developed this device for my own use and for the community of audio tinkerers and enthusiasts who want to do cool things with immersive audio. If that’s you, feel free to message me directly.

I was delighted to see people using this box for projects like creative routing of LFE into DeValiet systems—that kind of creative use case is exactly why I helped build it in the first place.  New firmware builds are coming online now with advanced mapping and speaker routing tools.  I have early access to these builds and can help those who want to experiment or integrate with supported working units.  If you have any projects in mind, let me know also, as our project work is to customize and deploy the units - including more integrated control and automation.

I can’t offer support for other OEMs, but I can support the community. If you’ve held off, or are still trying to get a working unit, feel free to reach out—hacker to hacker.

As a contributor to the tech of both ATMOS and Dante, one goal I had was to claim back my own hobbies.  Also we use the units for philanthropic projects in DickinsAudio.  In addition to supporting OEMs, I wanted to make the tech usable again for the people who love to play, build, and listen.  With the freedom from a modular ATMOS -> Dante decode, we are playing in spaces with nearly 300 channels, and layering student compositions over the top with tools like SPAT and L-ISA.

But nothing yet punches you in the gut like a ring of DeValiet all routed with LEF ;-)
Hoping to hear from some like minded enthusiasts, and for sure, wishing everyone the very best in their journey of sound!

Hi Glenn, I am interested in one of the Elytone VID1X1 units if the offer still stands. Hoping to play with it in a Dante/Surround setup with 5x Phantom; currently using a Nuprime H16 AIP as a decoder. Feel free to reply in PM or here. Thanks in advance !
