EQ/tone controls on a 440
#1
Before I start dialling in 4 REL S/812s I’d like to unearth some mid/top sweetness from my Sopra 2s, which are sounding a bit woolly. What’s the cleanest implementation of EQ for a 440? I’ve fumbled about with Roon’s parametric EQ but it’s a bit distorty. Is there a way to alter my EQ on the fly or am I limited to configuring it blind using the configurator?
Cheers…
2014 Mac Mini running Roon via Vodafone hub/Amazon basics ethernet cable into:
  • Devialet 440 (RCA to ground lifted AES)
  • Focal Sopra 2 (QED silver anniversary speaker cable)
  • Rel S812 x 4 (std hi-level cables and £25 Van Damme Speakon array connects, really chunky £35 Chinese mains cables)
  • no intentional room treatment.

What is the problem with the Roon EQ ? In case you set a filter with a positive gain you have to decrease the general volume by the same amount to avoid digital clipping.
