I'm creating a new thread, since the app is now available for use and testing. Get the app here. (In short, you'll need to install the TestFlight app on your device and then click the "View in TestFlight" link on that page.) Here's a screenshot of the main interface in dark mode.
The only troubleshooting issue so far has been local network access. The app requires local network access to communicate with your amp, and it should ask for that on first run. If it doesn't, or there's some other network issue, go to Settings-->Apps>ExPro and check that "Local Network" is switched on. If that doesn't work, then the issue may be VPN settings, which can block local network access; if you have a VPN setup on your device, try turning it off.
Eventually, I'll post the app in the App Store, for free. It may take a while: the reviewers say I need to produce a walkthrough video showing the app interfacing with an amp. In the meanwhile, source code is here.
Thanks to the initial testers for their feedback. Please submit any comments, bug reports, etc., either here or via TestFlight.

Hi
Great job with this!
Downloaded it yesterday. Only tried it a little with my Expert 220 Pro, but seems to work fine. Adjusting the volume with the plus and minus buttons works with quick response. When adjusting the volume using the slider, there is some slowness, but it works. Setting the startup volume works fine. I have configured my Expert to start up on a specific input, this app does not follow that, but no big problem.

Hi Andrew,
Works great on my system.
Somehow it fights with ROON over control authority, but works exceptionally well. Great job!

Hi Andrew, as well on my setup (440 Pro) it’s working beautifully, love the functionality and have already removed the original App from my iPhone’s homepage!
Permission to connect to my local network was asked on installation, and even though l use a VPN in the background it works as expected. Thanks for the effort you have put into this project and l am curious how this project will develop further:-)

I tried this on my DPremier but network access isnt working and I get the continuous dismiss/retry network area dialogue . For me I'm trying on an old iphone 12 with no sim/esim iinstalled but just wifi access (ie ipod like) so in Settings-->Apps>ExPro , I don't see "Local Network" but just "Cellular data". I'm connected to a Deco Mesh system on the same wifi as my Devialet . I've tried a few wifi tweaks but no success yet.
do you think there is an Expert Pro vs D-Premiere software issue such that this won't work for my older amp?

I don't know whether the app will work with a D-Premier, since I don't have one. At some point, the UDP protocol seems to have been updated, and the app uses the version that works with the latest system software for the Expert Pro. For older versions, you'll just have to try and see.
That said, your issue doesn't sound like a protocol mismatch, but failure to request the Local Network entitlement. What version of iOS are you running? And is ExPro listed in Settings-->Privacy & Security-->Local Network? If so, is it togged on there?

In my case, I am on IOS 26.4. There is no listing for Expro under Settings-->Privacy & Security-->Local Network (just Kef Connect, Roon, Spotify, Stream-ifi).
In "ExPro" settings the Cellular Data toggle is on, there is no Local Network toggle or such which I think is the issue. I have both my iPhone and D-Premier on same 2.4 Ghz network.
if it helps, I then downloaded/installed the old "Expert" app and it saw my D-Premier (It couldn't set the volume via my phone app but it did reflect volume changes I made on the physical remote.) That app does have a Local Network toggle set to on and after install shows under Settings-->Privacy & Security-->Local Network.
thanks for trying
