First 220Pros are arriving in dealers
#11
Exciting to hear these first reports....keep 'em coming. Will have to soften my bitchy anger about this sloppy upgade process and have a listen. Know my D400 is so very good that the hint of "better" is compelling.
Best to all.

Instead of this, sell 200 and buy s/h 250. THIS IS UPGRADE.

Well, the 250 is better than a 200, but I think a 220 would be better than a 250 TBH. A 250 upgraded to Pro on the other hand... Smile

TBH, this is what I have been considering which is why I was keen to try the 250 Pro.  Since upgrading from 200 to 400 I've found I miss the elegance of the single box, but I wouldn't want to loose the sonic gains.  With the upcoming changes the 250 Pro might just suit me.

Any impressions on whether the power supply in the 220pro still makes the weird mechanical sounding 'chattering' noise a lot of the 200's make?

En lugar de esto, vender y comprar 200 s / h 250. ESTO ES actualización.

IMHO the 220 gave a big jump over the 200 driving the Sabrinas.  There was definitely more "grunt" to the new amp, over and above the extra 20 watts.  It reminded me of the change from 200 to 400, but with more finesse.  If anyone is considering the change to pro, or alternatively going from a 200 to 400, you really need to arrange to have a listen.  I was suitably impressed and I'm now considering my options.

I also had a brief listen to the 1000 Pro in the same set up.  Like the 220 but more of everything - effortless.  Unfortunately, way too expensive for me!  I had hoped to try a 250 Pro but the configurator was still being un-cooperative.

Thanks to Al and the chaps at Oxford Audio for letting me play with their toys.
If a 220 is as good or better than a 400 with dual power supply and 400 watts per channel then I will be very impressed !

I do not think a 250 Pro is better than a 440 Pro, but it may be on par with a 400... Confused has suggested that the 250 Pro may even be as good as the 800.

No one has actually heard a 250 Pro yet so it's all speculation anyway..

A dealer here in Sweden is going to get a 440Pro on Monday if everything goes right and I think they have many of the old Expert models in also. Next weekend is the Göteborg hifi show and I hope to get to listen to a 440 and perhaps compare it to a 400.

Is this coming from the actual unit or the speakers ?
