The above problem was resolved today after 20 days by updating the Phantom II to firmware 2.18.1 and the Phantom I to firmware 2.18.2.

That is terrible. and 2024 was such a good run.
1) something in the updating process is not working right for me either
2) but was able to get it working by checking again many times and even required physically touching one device to recover from something that failed or did not complete.
I saw this symptom in both of the last two updates; the new version did not just go on to all of the devices and update everything all at the same time and leaving things with mixed versions.
'today' I had to manually check for updates 3 times AFTER I WAS NOTIFIED AUTOMATICALLY AN UPDATE WAS PENDING to get everything updated to the current version.
It took several checks and re-checks and (the dialog) needed to be touched with hands and un-plugged and re-plugged to get it working again.
For the most problematic update: the dialog: Spiff 'behaved' like it was connected from the playback side but generated an error trying to open it (play to), network lights 'looked' like it was connected but not accessible or responding
neither SPDIF or NETOWRK responded as expected. the dialog was not found in the Deviate software as a device. but the dialog was still listed in the API sources return query as a source.
(perhaps API enumeration is expected cached from another device since they did not all REBOOT or get the update at the same time.)
Pulling the dialog mains and trying a 3rd manual check (4th update of the day) worked finally.
Issue: First automatic update did not find and update everything and left things in a generally torn state.
I happened to have ALL of the devices on and joined to a multi-room and were IN USE. (UPNP source) neither the dialog or the arch was active in use.
The App on my 'remote' phone said an update was available.
I did it, something updated and restarted the master on system that was the master for the group. Seems like it updated 1 phantom (the MASTER of the GROUP) and the arch (arch was not being used).
left 3 speakers on the old version and found 1 of the speaker pairs that was active dropped out.
checking again found more things to update and updated and restarted something in system 2 (i could hear it restarted something in system2 but not sure which one)
it seems like i had to do that manual check twice after the automatic prompt to get 4 speakers and the arch updated.
seems like the system1 master and the unused arch got it first, then the master on system 2 got it, then both of the other 2 speakers got it on the 3 updates.
noticed the dialog was not found, or operating as expected. the dialog power light was flashing red and white.
pulled the power on the dialog.
manual update check #3 (4th update for today) found the dialog and updated.
hardware versions are mixed System 1 has a pair of N golds, System2 has an L and H model silver. Dialog is H and Arch is Q.
but nothing updated all at the same time.
hth engineering figure out what is regressed or not working as well as it has in the past.
