Gold DSP upgrade?
#1
Something interesting from this article: http://www.technewsworld.com/story/83657.html

In the article, it states:

(Regarding the upgraded DSP in the Gold Phantom):

"The firm also made improvements in the line's digital signal processor, and those changes are backward compatible. Owners of earlier Phantom models can get the new DSP through a firmware upgrade."

Interesting.

If this is true, that would be awesome.

Yes, there are firmware upgrades that will be backward compatible. But there are also hardware differences as cited including the tweeter, mid range driver, and some internal processing capacity.

It yet remains to be seen by which degree the hardware differences will translate into superior sound for daily situations.

Understood that there are other hardware differences with the Gold. Just thought it would be interesting to try the new DSP on a Silver pair and see if there are any audible differences.
