How to fix audio latency?

I have 3 Silver Phantom's and the Dialog. 2 Silvers in the livingroom and 1 in the kitchen. Through Optical-cable my Sony TV (KD-65XD9305) is connected with the Dialog. There is (a little) audio latency but enough to irritate me....

Can someone please tell me what to do?

Does this work with Phantoms? You will need to delay the video stream in order to get proper sync with Phantoms. As far as I can see this is an audio delay device

Usually the digital sound runs faster then the digital videostream. In this case an audio delay device is helpfull. I suggest to watch a live tennismatch to see what the problem is. If you hear the ball hitting the tennisrackets before you're really are seeing it being hit, then an external audiodelay device could be a solution if your gear (TV or setupbox) doesn't offer a proper onboard audiodelay. I experience the same with my Sony tv as Hanolthof - sound is late, so we need a video delay. I gonna buy a cable reciever and plug the phantoms to its optical out, not directly to the tv. By this the known Phantom latency of around 150ms will be offset by the video latency of the tv. If this is not enough you can use a Linux based vu+ reciever that allows for lip sync in both directions.

If you can connect to one of the phantoms instead of the dialog, that may help.

I wrestled with the same problem when i first installed my phantoms. The issue has to be addressed by delaying the video, not audio. So the lipsync device posted above would not work.

And it actually worked....at the maximum video delay setting, it compensated for the ~150ms audio delay via Dialog.

But I eventually found the Phantom audio delay wasn't consistent. Sometimes it would be less...so I had to re-adjust the Roland. No big deal...

But sometimes it would be MORE delay than 150ms. And that was where the Roland simply could not offer any more buffer to delay the video feed. So that solution didn't work all the time.

It was a costly workaround that didn't work all the time so i returned it.

Now, I am using a Mac Mini from which I feed video sources (movies/TV/etc...) through VLC player. Here, VLC allows practically any video delay you can imagine by way of audio latency adjustment. And it is as simple to set the default audio delay (ie: -150ms), and then fine-tune in 5ms +/- increments with a few keystrokes on the fly.

So far, this has been perfect, if a bit excessive, to workaround the audio delay issue.

Hopefully this may help, although I'm also open to any "easier" ways to go about this

Don't the Phantoms have a clock in them that you can synch with a master clock and there by avoid all this hassle?

None that has been made available by Devialet, at least at this time.

Connect the TV directly to left or right Phantom instead of the Dialog. See if you still experience a delay.
