Now I know its a non-PRO (but we all know that doesn't make much difference), however have been trying to sell my 250 for very little on all the usual places and no interest at all...
Personally I blame Devialet for completely neglecting the Expert. No advertising, no push with dealers. Everything is Phantom. It leaves owners taking a big loss on the gear. A proper hi fi company looks after its owners and the investment they have and considers the used value as well.......
I'm going to end up practically giving this thing away (even if that's possible)

Resale of Devialet Expert/Expert Pro has always been an issue. The non pro market is rather limited these days. I understand your frustration.
Have you considered just upgrading to the Expert Pro? I updated my D-Premier last year, and was very happy with the results. Was able to find a second 250 Pro for very short money, which allowed a reconfiguration to a 1000 Pro. FWIW, the 250 Pro is a significant improvement over the 250. IMHO, the 1000 Pro still beats the vast majority of newcomers to the market.
Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks for the kind comments. I found a buyer in the end, just a bit less than I had planned originally.
Fundamentally I didn't want to put serious money into such a depreciating asset when I could get want I wanted with Naim (ex-dem) and not feel I'd be stung again if I wanted to upgrade.
My new 222/250 New classic system sounds similarly 'tight and clean' to the Devialet 250 but it has a much deeper soundstage and spacing for the musicians. the 250 in comparison sounds very 2-dimensional. Just need to save for the Power supply... LOL.

Used audio gear can be difficult to move
My philosophy is that I have enjoyed using the item, have replaced it with something else and it must go. No good holding out for a "good price", as this is not like trading in a low mileage car. Rather let it go for between 40% and 60% of the price you paid.
And always describe it accurately and add several pictures

my view entirely except the D250 non Pro sold at 35% of what I paid for it (new open box) 9 years ago and 22% of what it would have been new then. Very poor resale value compared with Naim or Linn.

35% after 9 years is not too bad (IMHO). A snag of course is that inflation makes new kit so expensive.
But our hobby has always been fairly expensive
Possibly because it's not English...?

No, but it has lost a fair bit of the original MSRP. Still worth purchase at current market rate for discerning audiophiles.

This thread reminds me of a childhood memory. I think I would have been in my early teens and I had a record player in my bedroom that sounded so bad I never used it and I just wanted to sell it. (It was a plastic Alba deck from Woolworths, for those here that can remember such things)
I asked my father about how to correctly value second hand items, expecting that there was some kind of mathematical formula for such things. His rather blunt response was "it is worth what you can get for it". A rather strange and unhelpful response I thought, at the time at least. Later in life I realised that these were actually wise words.
As for Devialet Expert Amplifiers, the second hand value does seem relatively low. I have a TV that runs to a Cambridge Audio amp and KEF R5 speakers, a kind of audiophile version of a TV soundbar. With Devialet Expert amps at their current price levels, I am almost tempted to buy an Expert as a telly amp. Which is remarkable if you are a buyer, not so good if you want to sell.

I use my D1000 to drive the front speakers from my Denon AV amp. This was one of the fundamental reasons for buying the Expert at that time. For pure Hi Fi the D1000 is still pretty phenomenal bested by the quality of the streamed output easily available. I use the Amazon offering as it was better than Tidal when I changed. This was confirmed by the very impartial ears of my wife. At the moment I am thoroughly enjoying Peter Gabriel’s wonderful i/o album for both the musical and recording qualities.

Agreed it's all relative, and it kept me 9 years of the Naim upgrade ladder so probably saved my £1000s!
