Just came across this video which was interesting. A simple enough tweak to try. I tried it on my Singxer SU-6 USB DDC.

Not sure if there is a big difference or not but the system sounds great anyway.
I'm being a bit more gentle when inserting or removing the XLR cable now, since the strain is going to the solder joints to the PCB.
