Master to Companion cable choice
#11
In my experience, with AQ carbon, AQ forest, and cheap-as-chips RCAs, there is no difference.

But even though I could happily use the latter, I use the AQ leads as they're well made, and I already have them - I got the Carbon thrown in with the 1000 Pro, and not too expensive in the context of the rest of the systems.

My experience differs for my D400. I used to use Audioquest Coffee Coaxial and used Cardas RCA-XLR convertor, the sound was ok. I then changed the connection cable to Audioquest WEL Signature XLR, with XLR-RCA convertor on one end and then a ground lift XLR convertor at the other end, the sound was completely upgraded. Soundstage becomes much bigger and more holographic, and detail levels also jumped up quite a lot.

Thank you for acknowledging the sonic signature of AQ WEL Sig.

I went AQ: Diamond > Wild > WEL Sig. And that was it !!
