The quantum leap in performance from a D400 to a D800 is coherent with my experience with the 'one box' devialet. I tried twice in A/B test my 250 vs a 200 and the difference was significant even with speakers that can be easily driven by 50W class A amps. The way this was explained to me is that the 250 has a superior casing / electrical supply management. My hypothesis is that the 250 is the jewel in the crown and maybe for a number of reasons (expectation biases / business interest etc) there's has been a stronger focus both from D's aficionado's and the company itself on dual mono's.

I'm confused , from what I can see online Devialet won't have a successor to the 250 . am I wrong ? no more one box powerful option ?

indeed, it is very confusing with 250 pro ad its power rating..

It is strange, with the new higher capacity power supply and copper base plate I'm sure they could have increased power. There must be some internal or marketing reason for them not to do so. Maybe a 440 pro is more profitable for them and they want to make it the obvious choice for customers?
